Naturtex stems from a family tradition of state of the art textile colorants founded by German immigrant Karl August Hummel to NYC, where he founded Hummel Chemical Company in 1913, leading the way for Naturtex in Lima where textile colorants come from Nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

Naturtex achieved organic cotton fiber production in 1997, and alpaca in 2006. In 2005 we became the first textile company in the Americas to gain Fair Trade status by an internationally accredited institution. In 1998 Naturtex gained the prestigious EKO label for organic textile processing, which later became the Global Organic Textile Standard, GOTS.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This tradition spanning over 2 decades was only interrupted once, in 2020\/21, due to the closure of international travel and factories world wide. Once physical field visits can resume, so will the certifications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Production<\/span><\/h2>\n

Naturtex is a vertically integrated textile production facility that transforms our cotton and alpaca raw materials collected under organically and fair trade regimes. Our clients may choose to visit the fields themselves, as they are the final link on the long chain of transparency and due diligence. When production is literally \u201cin the mill,\u201d we invite buyers and brand managers to witness the process first hand to document the entire production process. When this is not possible, as during the Covid Pandemic, our quality control team may take the images for you in order to \u201ctransparentize\u201d the links needed to control the chain. <\/span><\/p>\n

Naturtex also offers sourcing services that help connect certain qualified manufacturers with organic textile manufacturing needs which we in turn supply to ensure that original raw materials are used. Because the industrial textile park in Lima is one of the largest, most sophisticated and diversified in the world, we are uniquely located to leverage the available installed production capacity to create the products required.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Once we review tech packs which meet our MOQ requirements, which vary from product to product, we can offer a tentative price range for full production.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
